Conference & Events Sales Manager

Key Responsibilities


  • Ensuring a focused proactive sales approach to enquiries, ensuring sales opportunities are maximized in all areas (weddings, conferencing, banqueting, Christmas)
  • Proactively selling to targeted new customers to ensure business growth.
  • Working to achieve quarterly sales targets set by the general manager.
  • Reporting your pipeline of sales to the general manager on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure a consistent enquiry handling process with every call, email, online enquiry & walk-in.
  • Excellent management of all pre- and post-event communications.
  • Conducting guest/client show rounds, building rapport and sharing a vision for events.


  • Developing a marketing plan and managing marketing activities in that plan, ensuring ROI is achieved and all enquiries are tracked back to each area of marketing spend.
  • Managing social media channels, website content, online and offline paid for channels.
  • Attendance at key exhibitions, conferences, trade shows, and networking events.


  • To ensure all details for bookings are kept efficiently, information is handed over to the relevant departments and detailed function sheets are completed to support on the day operations.
  • To ensure the smooth running of events and conferencing on the day/night and liaising with customers for any additional needs they may have.
  • Setting up rooms in various layouts prior to events.
  • Ensuring parking is communicated effectively for events and any signage amd parking management is taken care of.
  • Meeting and greeting customers

Other responsibilities (when required)

  • Bar service
  • Assistance in the restaurant with table service
  • Handling cash and payments and operating the till


  • In this role your direct report will be the conference and events supervisor who you will line manage, mentor and work alongside to achieve results.
  • You will report to the general manager.

The ideal candidate for the position should :

  • Have a minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Have proven selling skills
  • Be able to interact and communicate in a professional manner at all levels
  • Be good at identifying and solving problems
  • Be excellent at organising yourselves and others
  • Skilled in understanding and managing budgets
  • Skilled in planning and executing marketing.
  • Skilled in planning and running events.
  • Communicate effectively in English
  • Have a positive can do attitude

Salary & Hours : The salary paid will depend on age and experience. Working hours include a mix of regular hours during the week and flexible hours at weekends. These will typically vary from 40 to 50 hours per week. For conferencing you will need to be available from 7.30am to meet and greet customers.

Pay: £25,000-£28,000 per year + Bonus
